What about prop pitch...if its to course it will overload the engine and make it run richer and probably stumble as well....whats max RPM does it make...is it the correct prop for the aircraft,

If the pitch is to fine it will run weaker.

You said in your 1st post that the carb bowls where filling to 4mm below the top....have you corrected that now...as Bill said it should be 12mm....the high level will cause a rich mix.

    Tim,

When you changed the carbs, did you change the slides too or put your old slides and cables into the new carbs?

When you changed engines, did you use your old gearbox on the new engine?

I'm trying to pinpoint something that has not changed through this whole process.

    Bill.

Yep changed carbie slides, and tried another box= my origanal box is a 2:24 turning a 56" powerfin prop ,so boought a 2:58 with a 50/32 prop(way to small) and it reved to 7000rpm,and the mechanic flew and struggled to keep her at 200 ft... so went back to powerefin on the 2:24 but only pulling 6000rpm
origanally was only getting 5800rpm from the 2:24 with powerfin but hell of a climb..lol..so the last common link that remained was the engine mount, and the mounts are soft and perrished.so we retightend them but no difference, the mechanic his assistant and I sat for a couple hours brain stoming for a common link but every thing seems to have been tested or changed, at 1 stage the only thing origanal was the mount the engines were bolted to ie=my plane. About 5-7 years ago I had another plane with exact same engine(447 single carb.points) and it never skipped a beat? NO bogging? Now my prob if lets say I fly like this and in cruise its fine but landing?1 end of my runway requires a high approach so at 500ft I bring to idle and set glide and down I go Now if once im near the ground what if I need to go around(a flock of birds just flies in front?) and I push full throttle as a reflex(as we do) now she will more than likely bog(as the long idle garentees a bog down with fast excell....worrying!!!!!!
