How often do you guys take the oil pan off to clean it. Every oil change or every 100 hours ?

    Hi Terry,

You said pan do you mean the oil tank?
The Line Maint. manual says every 200 hrs. If you use 100LL you will find lead paste down on the bottom. If you use auto fuel it will probably be clean unless you had something floating around in the oil, but that usually isn't the case.

You can go online here on the forum and download the all the manuals for the 912. You will need them. You can download the Line maint. manual here and it will have all your info on service intervals and it has a good check list to follow for your inspections. You will need the parts manual too because not only does it show the diagrams of how things go together and parts, but it has many special torque values not listed in the regular maint. manual.

Hey Roger, the "oil tank" had a crack in it. I picked it up today at the machine shop I had taken it to for repair and reinstalled it on the rotax. $10.00 for the repair. Held oil pressure and no leaks on test will report more after overnight (looking for leaks} and a flight tomorrow.

$10 sounds a lot better than $720 to me. Nice job. The tank is not really pressurized. It is vented to the atmosphere.

It was a fix, no leaks ! Machine shop cost to repair the oil tank $10.00 and now stronger than new.
